Kolskeggur had a successful career as a competition horse in Iceland and later in the United States, winning first place for tolt and pace in several contests. He continues his winning ways as a breeding stallion, having one offspring who has been evaluated first prize. Kolskeggur passes along his gentle, laid-back disposition and willingness to learn as well as his clear, machine-like gaits. He is more refined than his famous honor prize sire Ófeigur, and also has more mane and tail which his offspring tend to inherit.
